Catharine L. Clark

Catharine L. Clark, 92, of Laurel Street died Wednesday at the Laurel Lake Center, where she has resided for the past four years. Born in Philadelphia on Nov. 21, 1914, daughter of Clifford E. and Elizabeth Clarke Lippincott, she moved to Lee as a child and was a 1932 graduate of Lee High School and a 1936 graduate of Smith College. For several years, she worked as a secretary at Lee High School and, in 1945, moved to Copake Falls, N.Y. She taught English at Roeliff Jansen Central School and Taconic Hills Central School in New York state from 1961 until retiring in 1976. She was a member of Church of St. John in the Wilderness in Copake Falls, N.Y. She married her husband, the late Frederick H. Clark, on Jan. 1, 1945. He died April 17, 1977. She leaves two sons, Stuart H. Clark of Almond, Wis., and Douglas C. Clark of New Lebanon, N.Y.; two daughters, Jane C. Peck of Copake Falls, N.Y., and Dorothy E. Avin of Austerlitz, N.Y.; a brother, Clifford E. Lippincott of Pelham; 10 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A memorial service for Catharine Lippincott Clark, who died Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2006, formerly of Copake Falls, N.Y., will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Church of St. John in the Wilderness, Copake Falls, N.Y. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery in Lee at the convenience of the family. Kelly Funeral Home in Lee is in charge of arrangements. Friends may make donations to the American Heart Association. She was predeceased by a daughter, Susan Clark, in 1954; and by a sister, Jane Louise Canon.
