Nina Grechan

Nina Grechan, 85, of 73 Rose Drive died Sunday at Berkshire Medical Center. Born in Springfield on March 29, 1921, daughter of Aleksey and Eugenie Gardieff Grechan, she was a graduate of Dalton High School and Berkshire Business College. Ms. Grechan was employed by General Electric Co. and retired in 1983 as secretary to the manager of technology. She was a communicant of First Congregational Church in Hinsdale, and enjoyed traveling. Ms. Grechan leaves a sister, Edna Grechan of Hinsdale, with whom she resided; and a brother, Boris of Lakewood, Fla. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Following cremation, the burial of Nina Grechan, who died Sunday, Dec. 17, 2006, will be private in the Hinsdale Cemetery. Per Ms. Grechan's wishes, there will be no calling hours or services. A celebration of her life will be held with friends and family at a later date. Donations may be made in her memory to the Berkshire Humane Society, in care of BARTLETT-WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME, 525 Main St., Dalton, MA 01226, which is in charge of arrangements. As the matriarch of her family, she gave them all her pearls of wisdom and ready advice. She had 23 happy years of retirement; she traveled extensively, mainly to Hawaii in the spring and to Europe in the fall. She also leaves two nieces, Deborah Cuzziere and her husband, Vincent of Dennis, and Judith Grechan of Ipswich; and a sister-in-law, Patricia of Lakewood.
