Aldo S. Belini

Aldo S. Belini, 83, of 3 Myrtle St. died Friday at Williamstown Commons. Born in the Farnams section of Cheshire on Nov. 17, 1923, son of Dominic and Adlia Montana Belini, he attended Cheshire Elementary and graduated from the former Adams High School in 1941. He moved to Adams in 1949. Mr. Belini was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps, serving in the Beartown Mountain Area in South Lee. An Army Air Force veteran of World War II, he saw action in Okinawa in the South Pacific theater. He was honorably discharged on Feb. 10, 1946, with the rank of corporal. He was employed by General Electric Co. for 34 years, retiring in 1986 from the power transformer division. Previously, he was employed by the former Gale Shoe Co. in North Adams and by the former Berkshire Fine Spinning Associates. He was a communicant of the Parish of Notre Dame-St. Thomas and a member of the GE Quarter Century and Pensioners' Club. He was a former member of American Legion Post 160. He and his wife, the former Helene B. Koszelnik, were married June 25, 1949, in Notre Dame Church by Monsignor Joseph T. Smith. Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Christine K. Salvantes of Cheshire; two sisters, Alma Horanzy and Elizabeth Horton, both of Cheshire; two grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A funeral in the Roman Catholic tradition for Aldo S. Belini, who died Friday, Jan. 5, 2007, will be conducted Tuesday at 11 at MCBRIDE FUNERAL HOME OF ADAMS by the Rev. David Raymond, pastor of Assumption Church in Cheshire. Burial will follow in the family plot in Bellevue Cemetery. The family suggests donations in his memory to the Adams Ambulance Service, Park Street, Adams, through the funeral home. A visitation period will be offered Tuesday from 10 until the time of service. Mr. Belini also leaves two grandchildren, William Salvantes Jr. and Kimberly Smith, and a great-granddaughter, Gracelyn Rose. Three brothers, Biagio, Ned and Albert Belini, and a sister, Lena Sondrini, are deceased.
