Ruth Mae Brenner Crawford, 82, of 167 North Summer St. died Sunday at Mercy Hospital in Springfield. Born in Adams on May 4, 1924, daughter of Frank and Alice Varno Brenner, she attended schools in Adams, and graduated from the former Adams High School with the class of 1942. She then received a bachelor's degree from Syracuse University in 1945, and a master's of education from the former North Adams State College in 1974. Mrs. Crawford was a mathematics teacher for 35 years for Adams School System, and later for Adams-Cheshire Regional School District, until retiring 20 years ago. She was a communicant of the Parish of Notre Dame and St. Thomas Aquinas in Adams. She enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles and word jumble puzzles. She also loved to do yard work. Her husband, James W. Crawford, died April 18, 1971. She leaves a daughter, Ruth J. Robert of Palmer; a sister, Eileen Willig of Newtown, Conn.; two granddaughters; and three great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral of Ruth Mae Brenner Crawford, who died Sunday, Jan. 7, 2007, will be held today at 9 a.m. from PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m., in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, with Rev. Daniel J. Boyle, pastor of the Catholic Parishes of Adams, officiating. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery, Adams. Memorial donations may be made to the family to be distributed to several charitable causes, through the funeral home.
