Dorothy T. LeFebvre

Dorothy T. LeFebvre, 78, of 204 Church St. died yesterday at the home of her daughter, Ann M. Ross, in Averill Park, N.Y., where she had resided for the past three weeks. She served as clerk to the Assessors from 1974 to 2004 and was a former assistant town clerk. She also worked at the election polls for many years. Born in Adams on July 16, 1928, daughter of Albert and Mary Beaubien Gregoire, she was a 1946 graduate of the former Adams High School. Mrs. LeFebvre was a former substitute teacher in the Cheshire and Hancock school systems. She also worked in the office of the Berkshire County 4-H Extension Service and served as a 4-H leader and judge at local fairs. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church, where she taught Confraternity of Christian Doctrine for 25 years, for which she received the St. Pius X Religious Education Award. She also received the church's Woman of the Year Award. She was a member of the Massachusetts Association of Assessing Officers and received the Lucille Bayes Clerk of the Year Award in 2001. She also was active on the allocating committee for the Northern Berkshire United Way. She enjoyed traveling, sewing, cooking and flower gardening. Her husband, Harold D. LeFebvre, whom she married April 14, 1951, at Notre Dame Church in Adams, died Feb. 25, 1976. Besides her daughter, she leaves two other daughters, Janet H. Madill of Miami and Susan L. Reardon of Cheshire; a son, Peter G. LeFebvre of Cheshire; a brother, Francis Gregoire of Bradenton, Fla.; a sister, Rose Belisle of Adams; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Dorothy T. LeFebvre, who died Thursday, Jan. 11, 2007, will be celebrated Monday, Jan. 15, at 10 at St. Mary of the Assumption Church by the Rev. David R. Raymond, pastor. Burial will follow in Cheshire Cemetery. Calling hours will be Sunday from 4 to 8 at DERY-CHESHIRE FUNERAL HOME. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Church, the Alzheimer's Association or to the Walter Estes Scholarship Fund, all in care of the funeral home, P.O. Box 445, Cheshire, MA 01225. She also leaves a daughter-in-law, Carol LeFebvre; three sons-in-law, Frederick Madill, Rick Ross and Thomas Reardon; 13 grandchildren, Diane Chafin, Kelly and Robert Madill, Jeremy, Nicholas and Shauna Lynn LeFebvre, Erik, David, Gregory and Stefanie Ross, and Sarah, Brian and Kate Reardon; two great-grandchildren, Zachary Madill-Arana and Ian Chafin; two cousins, Patricia Boisvert and Edward LeFebvre, and a longtime extended family member, Leonard Conland of Switzerland. She was predeceased by a brother, Albert Gregoire; two sisters, Helen Lord and Rita Lilienthal; and her longtime companion, Walter Estes.
