Florence Gagliano Pettibone

Florence Gagliano Pettibone, 71, a former resident of North Adams, died Wednesday at Eventide Home for Women in Exeter, N.H., after a long illness. She moved to Eventide 18 months ago. Born in North Adams on March 29, 1935, daughter of William and Florence Miller Todd, she graduated from the former St. Joseph's High School and was a 1955 graduate of the former St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing. A registered nurse, Mrs. Pettibone worked in pediatrics for many years and was an industrial nurse at the former Sprague Electric Co. She retired from North Adams Regional Hospital as a surgical nurse. She was a communicant of St. Francis' Church. Her first husband, Joseph Gagliano, whom she married Oct. 17, 1964, died in June 1975. Her husband, Robert A. Pettibone, whom she married Sept. 22, 1978, died June 15, 1979. She leaves a son, Todd Gagliano of Newington, N.H.; a daughter, Lisa Gagliano Harris of Kittery, Maine; a stepson, Robert Pettibone of the state of Florida; a sister, Agnes O'Grady of North Adams; and three grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Florence Todd Gagliano Pettibone, who died Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2007, will be celebrated Monday at 11 at St. Anthony of Padua Church, North Adams. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday from 9 to 10:30 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, WEST CHAPEL, 521 West Main St., North Adams. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the Employee Appreciation Fund, Eventide Home for Women, 81 High St., Exeter, NH 03833, or through the funeral home, in honor of the loving care she received from the wonderful staff. Mrs. Pettibone also leaves her daughter-in-law, Christine Gagliano; stepdaughter-in-law, Tacy Pettibone; son-in-law, David Harris; three grandchildren, Dominic and Anthony Gagliano, and Isabella Harris; sister-in-law, Jeanne Todd; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, James and Augustus Todd. The latter was killed during the Korean War.
