Richard F. "Dick" Crine

Richard F. "Dick" Crine, 73, of 1024 Sheffield Egremont Road died Sunday at Fairview Hospital. Born in Great Barrington on June 6, 1933, son of John and Helen Briggs Crine, he attended local schools, including the former Searles High School. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was an employee of Pfizer Chemical in Canaan, Conn. for 33 years, last working as a welder. Prior to that, he had worked as an attendant at the former Curt Whalen's Gasoline Station in Great Barrington and for Leamon Rogers' Trucking Co. for several years. He also was a school crossing guard at the former Dewey School. On Sept. 10, 1956, he married the former Katherine Stoner at the Methodist Church in Great Barrington. He enjoyed the television program "M.A.S.H.," watching NASCAR races and traveling with his wife in the Southwest. Besides his wife, he leaves three daughters, Melody Bliss and Mary Wells, both of Sheffield, and Betsy Gordon of Canaan, Conn.; two sons, Richard Crine Jr. of Sheffield and William Crine of Ashley Falls; two brothers, John Crine of Dover Plains, N.Y., and Everett Crine of Cassanova, Wis.; two sisters, Judy Moro of Great Barrington and Alice Jacquins of Housatonic; and six grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Richard "Dick" Crine died Sunday, Jan. 14, 2007 at home. Family and friends are invited to a memorial service to be held Thursday at 6 p.m. at FINNERTY & STEVENS FUNERAL HOME, conducted by the Rev. Charles VanAusdall, pastor of the First Congregational Church. Those who desire may make contributions in Richard's memory to the American Cancer Society through the funeral home, 426 Main St., Great Barrington, MA 01230. He was predeceased by two sisters, Jean Pixley and Joan Stupplebean, and two brothers Robert and Donald Crine.
