Charles Raymond Weldon Sr.

Charles Raymond Weldon Sr., 76, of 45 Spring St., died Tuesday at North Adams Regional Hospital. Born in North Adams on Oct. 2, 1930, son of Charles J. and Mildred English Weldon, he attended local schools. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Weldon worked for several years in the cafeteria of Automatic Data Processing Co. in Jersey City, N.J. Before that, he was a cook at Old Heidelburg Castle Restaurant in Sarasota, Fla. He returned to North Adams in 1992. He was a communicant of St. Francis' Church and a member of Dr. George L. Curran Post 996 Veterans of Foreign Wars and of Frank R. Stiles Post 125 American Legion. He leaves four sons, Charles R. Weldon Jr. and Kevin B. Weldon, both of Jersey City, Michael T. Weldon of North Adams and John F. Weldon of Tarpon Springs, Fla.; two daughters, Rose Marin and Susan Weldon, both of North Adams; two brothers, George Weldon of Richmond and Donald Weldon of New York City; his former wife, Pauline Quinn Weldon of Jersey City; 19 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Three daughters are deceased, Carol Thomas, and Evelyn and Kathleen Weldon. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Graveside committal services for Charles . Weldon Sr., who died Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2007, will take place in the spring in Southview Cemetery in North Adams. There will be no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in care of FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS CENTRAL CHAPEL, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, MA 01247, which is in charge of arrangements.
