Stanley F. Koza

Stanley F. Koza, 79, of 12 3rd Ave., Pine Valley Park, died Saturday at North Adams Commons, where he had resided since December. Born in Adams on Oct. 26, 1927, son of Michael and Mary Dziengel Koza, he was a graduate of the former Adams High School. An Army veteran of World War II, he enlisted on March 27, 1946, and was discharged on May 11, 1947. Mr. Koza was employed as an air-conditioning and refrigeration repairman by General Electric Co. for 30 years. He retired in 1988. He was a longtime communicant of St. Mary's Church and of St. Stanislaus' Church in Adams. He was active in local politics and enjoyed campaigning for local politicians. In his younger years, he played basketball and baseball in youth leagues and on school teams. He enjoyed gardening. He and his wife, the former Pamela Brooks, were married Sept. 7, 1960, in England. Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, Robert A. Koza of Baton Rouge, La., and Stephan M. Koza of Newbury; a daughter, Elizabeth K. Jackson of Lenox; a sister, Stacia Ordyna of Adams; and a granddaughter. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Stanley F. Koza, who died Feb. 3, 2007, will be Wednesday at 9:15 from DERY-CHESHIRE FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Cheshire. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus' Cemetery in Adams. Calling hours at the funeral home will be tomorrow from 4 to 7. Mr. Koza also leaves his granddaughter, Zoe Koza of Lenox, with whom he enjoyed spending time; his son-in-law, Michael Jackson; two daughters-in-law, Bridget Koza (Stephan) and Rea Koza (Robert). He also leaves nieces and nephews. Following the service at the cemetery, the family would like to extend an invitation to celebrate Stanley's life at Swistak's Restaurant in Cheshire.
