Evelyn Barbara Rivard

Evelyn Barbara Rivard, 83, of 25 Overlook Terrace, died Sunday at North Adams Regional Hospital. Born in North Adams on Nov. 10, 1923, daughter of George and Fannie Hicks Smith, she was a 1941 graduate of Drury High School. Mrs. Rivard was a homemaker. At one time, she was employed by the former Wall Streeter Shoe Co. and the former Berkshire Cable Co. She was a member of First Baptist Church and of its choir. She enjoyed reading, playing the piano, singing and swimming at Fish Pond. Her husband, William C. Rivard, whom she married Nov. 30, 1946, died Jan. 24, 1992. She leaves three daughters, Judy Spooner of North Adams, Patricia Flaherty of Williamstown and Barbara Rivard of Bennington, Vt.; a son, William Rivard of Stamford; a sister, Delight Prentice of Springfield; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Evelyn Rivard, who died Sunday, Feb. 4, 2007, will be conducted Thursday at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church in North Adams by the Rev. Joseph DeCosta. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery, North Adams. Calling hours will be tomorrow from 4 to 7 p.m. at AUGE-SAN SOUCIE-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME, 46 North Church St. Memorial donations may be made to North Adams Public Library or to First Baptist Church, both through the funeral home. Mrs. Rivard also leaves two sons-in-law, Frederick Spooner and William Flaherty; a daughter-in-law, Mary Ann; five grandchildren, William Rivard, Carlton Blake, Mitchell and Sarah Spooner, and Lisa Cone; and nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Margaret Robare.
