Shirley B. Carrozza

Shirley B. Carrozza, 76, of 375 North Plain Road, Housatonic, died Friday at home. Born in Great Barrington on Jan. 17, 1931, daughter of Oliver Curtiss Sr. and Ethel McCormick Boutin Curtiss, she attended local schools and was a 1949 graduate of the former Sheffield High School, where she played basketball. Mrs. Carrozza made flower arrangements, wood ornaments, baskets and assorted crafts, which she sold at flea markets and at fairs in Massachusetts, Vermont, Connecticut and New York. She enjoyed playing bingo. Her first husband, David A. Eichstedt Sr., died Oct. 24, 1976. They had been married 24 years. She and her husband, Frank A. Carrozza, celebrated their 23rd wedding anniversary Dec. 24. Besides her husband, she leaves a son, David A. Eichstedt Jr. of Ashley Falls; a daughter, Gail Morrison of Stockbridge; a stepson, Tony Knight of Fredericksburg, Va.; two stepdaughters, Rita Carrozza and Christina Carrozza, both of the state of Florida; four sisters, Helen Handy of Aberdeen, N.C., and Ann Pruhenski, Barbara Martin and Eleanor Markarski, all of Housatonic; and six stepgrandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Shirley B. Carrozza, who died Friday, Feb. 9, 2007, will be conducted Tuesday at 11 at Housatonic Congregational Church by the Rev. Belle Fox-Martin. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Great Barrington. The family will receive friends at BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME tomorrow from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that expressions of sympathy in Shirley's memory be made to the Earth Angels, in care of the funeral home, 33 South St., Great Barrington, MA 01230. She also leaves a daughter-in-law, Gail, and a son-in-law, Jim. She was predeceased by a brother, Oliver Curtiss Jr., and by a stepbrother, Edward Boutin.
