Julius Lawrence "Toots" Iemolini

Julius Lawrence "Toots" Iemolini, 91, of Goodrich Street, died yesterday at Fairview Commons in Great Barrington. Born in Great Barrington on Nov. 22, 1915, son of Lucio and Ermenia Sartor Iemolini, he attended the former Dewey School and was a 1933 graduate of the former Searles High School, where he played football, baseball and basketball and was known for his boxing ability. He was a semipro baseball player for Berkshire-New York Motor Dispatch. An Army veteran of World War II, he served as a sergeant in the Medical Corps, NCO 673, from 1942 to 1946. He received several campaign medals. Mr. Iemolini established Julius Iemolini Painting Co. in 1956, which is still in operation. He was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church and a member of the Stockbridge Golf Club. A charter member of the Men's League at the club, he coached many youth leagues there. He was a member of James A. Modolo Post 8348 Veterans of Foreign Wars and played baseball for the American Legion and VFW teams. He was a New York Yankees fan. He and his wife, the former Anne Pauline Ruesch, were married June 3, 1950, at St. Joseph's Church. Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, Richard Paul Iemolini of Stockbridge and Lawrence Peter Iemolini of Sheffield; three daughters, Christine Anne Congdon and Gail Marie Heady, both of Great Barrington, and Linda Joan Jennings of Gilmanton Iron Works, N.H.; and eight grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Julius "Toots" Iemolini of Stockbridge, who died Saturday, Feb. 10, 2007, will be celebrated Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church in Stockbridge. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Those who desire may make memorial donations to James A. Modolo Post VFW through FINNERTY & STEVENS FUNERAL HOME, 426 Main St., Great Barrington, MA 01230, which is entrusted with arrangements. Mr. Iemolini also leaves his daughters-in-law, Terry and Annette; sons-in-law, Richard Congdon, Merritt Heady and Craig Jennings; eight grandchildren, Brook Anne and Asli Lin Heady, Curtis Jeffrey and Tracee Iemolini Congdon, Christopher Ryan Jennings and Juli-Anne, Trevor Roys and Matthew Thomas Iemolini. He was predeceased by his sisters, Irene and Lena Malnati, Flora Vaida, Inez Iemolini and Alice Gerard.
