Gary Mekdeci

Gary Mekdeci, 52, of 27 Temple St., died Friday at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield. Born in Adams on March 12, 1954, son of Mary Crockwell Mekdeci and the late Samuel J. Mekdeci, he attended local schools, including Hoosac Valley High School. For a short time, he attended schools in Orlando, Fla. Mr. Mekdeci was employed by the former Jarisch Paper Co. in North Adams and by the former Ashkar Sales, both in North Adams, retiring in 1989 due to poor health. Before that, he was employed for the former Arnold Print Works for several years. While he lived in Florida, he was employed as a construction worker for five years. He was a communicant of the parish of Notre Dame and St. Thomas, and enjoyed candlepin bowling, golfing and basketball. He was a fan of the New York Giants, New York Yankees and Boston Celtics. He and his wife, the former Tracy A. Cameron, were married June 19, 1993. Besides his wife and his mother, of Adams, he leaves three brothers, Paul Mekdeci of Adams, Keith Mekdeci of North Adams and Stephen Mekdeci of Pittsfield. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Gary Mekdeci, who died Friday, Feb. 16, 2007, will be Thursday at 9 a.m. from TROTTIER-PRINGLE FUNERAL HOME, 6 Summer St., Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Thomas' Church, celebrated by the Rev. Bonaventure Moccia CP. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. Donations in his memory may be made to the Ford Foundation in care of the Renal Dialysis Center at BMC through the funeral home. He also leaves five sisters-in-law, Sara Minnuies, Christina Cameron, Nancy Wells and Peg and Sheila Mekdeci; two brothers-in-law, Joseph Cameron and Gregory Wells; his mother-in-law, Donna Cameron; father-in-law, Robert Cameron and his wife Virginia Sample; seven nephews, Paul and Ethan Mekdeci, Joshua Wells, Luke Cameron, Kyle Peters, Benjamin Minnuies and Dominic Briggs; two nieces, Kristi Briggs and Nicole Wells; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
