Judith A. Loeb

Judith A. Loeb, 57, of 2305 Jacob's Ladder Road, died Monday at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield. Born in Great Barrington on April 23, 1949, daughter of Leo A. Loeb and the late Marion Amazon Loeb, she was a member of the first graduating class of Lenox Memorial High School in 1967. She later earned an associate's degree from Berkshire Community College, a bachelor's degree from University of Massachusetts Amherst, and attended graduate school at Fordham University in New York. Ms. Loeb taught art classes at Hudson Valley Community College. She had worked at the former Alice's Restaurant in Stockbridge in the early 1970's. She volunteered at Gould Farm in Monterey, where she taught basket-making and other crafts and was also a volunteer at Hancock Shaker Village. She was a member of Temple Anshe Amunim in Pittsfield. Active in politics for much of her life, she was the Becket representative of the Central Berkshire Regional School District for several years and was a longtime member and past chairman of the Becket Democratic Town Committee. She was a delegate from Becket for many Massachusetts Democratic conventions and was active in many political campaigns, including former Gov. Michael Dukakis' 1988 presidential campaign. Ms. Loeb and her husband, Joseph A. Maiorella, were married in Naples, Fla. on Dec. 30, 1989. Besides her husband of Becket and her father of Lenox, she leaves one daughter, Melissa Jo Maiorella, at home. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral of Judith A. Loeb, who died Monday, Feb. 19, 2007, will be Thursday morning at 11 at Temple Anshe Amunim, 26 Broad Street, Pittsfield, led by Rabbi Mark Wieder, spiritual leader. Burial will follow in Pittsfield Cemetery. Shiva will be observed Thursday, Feb. 22 at 7 p.m. and from Saturday, Feb. 24 through Wednesday, Feb. 28 after 7 p.m. at the family home. Donations in Judi's memory may be made to the charity of one's choice in care of the ROCHE FUNERAL HOME, 120 Main St., Lenox, MA 01240.
