Anna Fortin

Anna Fortin, 95, of 2 Apache Drive, died yesterday at North Adams Regional Hospital. Born in Adams on June 3, 1911, daughter of John and Mary Swakoj Paluch, she attended schools there. Mrs. Fortin was employed by the former Sprague Electric Co. for 22 years, retiring in 1973. Before that, she worked at the former Berkshire Fine Spinning Associates and at General Electric Co. She was a communicant of the former Notre Dame Church in North Adams and an active member of the Northern Berkshire YMCA. She was also a member of the Stamford Valley Golf Association. She and her husband, O. Peter Fortin, were married in 1929. He died Aug. 5, 1988. She leaves four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Her son, Francis Fortin, died in 1976 and her daughter, Dorothy Cole, in 1978. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Anna Paluch Fortin, who died Thursday, Feb. 22, 2007, will be Monday, Feb. 26, at 10:15 a.m. from FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, CENTRAL CHAPEL, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, with a Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Church. Burial will be in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. Memorial gifts may go to Northern Berkshire YMCA, in care of the funeral home. Mrs. Fortin leaves her grandchildren, Sandra Cole of Winchester, Va., Deborah Lewis of Marietta, Ga., Gary Cole of Leavenworth, Kan., and James Cole of El Caza, Calif.; and nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Theodore Paluch, and by two sisters, Pauline Cudak and Mary Bishop.
