Mildred T. Cook

Mildred T. Cook, 101, formerly of County Road, died Friday at Fairview Commons, where she had resided since 1996. Born in Pittsfield on May 23, 1905, daughter of Eugene and Ida Medlyn Tabor, she grew up in Lanesborough on the L.A. Tabor Farm, moving to Dalton in 1919. She attended the former Berkshire Business College and graduated with the class of 1925. Mrs. Cook was employed by Grafton State Hospital in Orange for 17 years as a dietician. Before that, she was a clerk at the Stockbridge School of Agriculture in Amherst. She moved to Sheffield in 1987. She was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on Aug. 15, 1943, in Springfield and was a member of Kingdom Hall in Sheffield. She and her husband, Lester A. Cook, were married in 1934. He died Oct. 22, 1999. Mrs. Cook leaves a son, Leslie B. Cook Sr. of Worcester; five stepchildren; a grandson; and several grandchildren. A son, Robert Cook, is deceased. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A service in memory of Mildred T. Cook, who died Friday, Feb. 23, 2007, will be held Saturday at 4 p.m. at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Sheffield, led by Tenney Fales. There will be no calling hours. FINNERTY & STEVENS FUNERAL HOME in Great Barrington is in charge of the arrangements. A sister, Elizabeth Tabor, is deceased.
