Harry M. Green

Harry M. Green, 82, of 1627 Clayton Mill River Road, Southfield, died yesterday at home. He was a New Marlborough cemetery commissioner from 1985 to 2005. Born in Winchester, Conn., on July 6, 1924, son of George and Lucy Renaldi Green, he was raised by his aunt and uncle, John and Ella Renaldi, on Konkapot River Farm in Clayton and attended schools in Mill River. A construction worker, Mr. Green was employed by O'Connor Brothers, retiring in 1980. Before that, he worked for Homer Stanton in Mill River, John D. Demichael in Torrington, Conn., and the state of Connecticut, O.G. Construction Co. and E.P. Riva. He also worked at Stateline Package Store. He and his wife, the former Bessie Leffingwell, were married Oct. 21, 1944, by the Rev. Arthur Simmons at the New Marlborough Parsonage. Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Harold D. Green of Ashley Falls; two daughters, Dorothy Flint of Lakeville, Conn., and Virginia Dawson of Clayton; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Harry M. Green, who died Saturday, Feb. 24, 2007, will be conducted Tuesday at 1 p.m. at BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME by the Rev. Regina King. Burial will follow in Mill River Center Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that expressions of sympathy in Harry's memory be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires, in care of the funeral home, 33 South St., Great Barrington, MA 01230. He also leaves a daughter-in-law, Carol; a son-in-law, Bill; and seven grandchildren, Brenda Madsen, Richard and Connie Green, Susanne Hurley, Jamie Flint, and Michelle Dawson and James Dawson Jr. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
