Dennis J. Murphy

Dennis J. Murphy, 47, of 41 Seminole Drive, Wheel Estates Mobile Home Park, died Friday at home. Born on May 16, 1959, in Pittsfield, son of Donald F. and Carolyn Wilcox Murphy, he had resided in North Adams for the past year and prior to that had resided in Pittsfield and in Maine. He was educated in Pittsfield schools and was a 1977 graduate of Pittsfield High School. He served in the Navy for four years. At the time of his death he was employed as a construction laborer for Greenwood Contractors of Williamstown. He had also been employed for many years as a chef at various restaurants in the Berkshires. An outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing, snowmobiling and golfing. He also enjoyed playing pitch in the Elks Pitch League with his father. Besides his parents of Pittsfield, he leaves his companion, Laurie Greene of North Adams; two daughters, Crystal Murphy of Bennington, Vt., and Samantha Lee of Hadley; and a brother, Glenn M. Murphy of Pittsfield. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Dennis J. Murphy, who died Friday, March 2, 2007, will be held tomorrow at 7 p.m. at DERY FUNERAL HOME in Pittsfield, conducted by the Rev. William Furey, pastor of Berkshire Union Chapel in Lanesborough. Following cremation, burial will be private. Calling hours will be held tomorrow from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service. Memorial donations in memory of Dennis may be made to the Dennis J. Murphy Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
