Robertine Grace Melle

Robertine Grace Melle, 81, of 84 West Main St. died Friday at North Adams Regional Hospital. Born in Ware on Jan. 26, 1926, daughter of Albert and Antoinette Lapré St. Onge, she attended schools in New York, North Adams and Pittsfield. She moved to North Adams in 1975. Mrs. Melle was employed by the former Sheraton Hotel in North Adams. Before that, she worked in the housekeeping department of Berkshire Medical Center for 10 years and was a waitress at several Pittsfield restaurants. She retired in 1975. She learned to crochet at a local park at the age of 9, and it became a lifelong passion. She also enjoyed gardening. She and her husband, Henry W. Melle, were married Sept. 4, 1943, at Notre Dame Church in Pittsfield. Besides her husband, she leaves two sons, Robert H. Melle of Amherst, N.H., and Richard P. Melle of Saratoga Springs, N.Y.; two daughters, Patricia Emerson of New York City and Joan Murphy of Pittsfield; a brother, John St. Onge of Woodside, N.Y.; a sister, Bertha Phillips of Springfield; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Robertine G. Melle will be private. There will be no calling hours. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, WEST CHAPEL, 521 West Main St., North Adams is handling arrangements. Survivors include nieces and nephews. A grandson, Mark Melle, a brother, Robert St. Onge, and a sister, Bernadette Martin, are all deceased. Mrs. Melle enjoyed spending time with her family.
