Peter P. Nykorchuk

Peter P. Nykorchuk, 75, of 514 South Main St., died Friday at Berkshire Medical Center. Born in Pittsfield on July 23, 1931, son of Anthony and Anastasia Kowchuk Nykorchuk, he was a 1950 graduate of St. Joseph's High School He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Nykorchuk was employed by General Electric Co. in Pittsfield as an environmental inspector, retiring in 1993 with 32 years of service. He was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church in Pittsfield and a member of the GE Quarter Century and Pensioners' clubs, the Polish Falcons and the Polish Alliance. He was also a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a golfer. He lived on the shores of Pontoosuc Lake, where he enjoyed boating, fishing and gardening. He leaves a sister, Helen Morin of Pittsfield. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Mr. Peter P. Nykorchuk died in Pittsfield on Friday, April 6, 2007. The funeral will be conducted tomorrow at noon at DWYER FUNERAL HOME by the Rev. Robert Markovitch, pastor of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be tomorrow morning from 10 until the time of service. Mr. Nykorchuk also leaves a sister-in-law, Helen Nacorchuck; a brother-in-law, Robert Morin; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by six brothers and three sisters. If friends desire, memorial donations may be made to Friends of Renal Dialysis in care of the funeral home, 776 North St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
