Rosalie A. Poplaski

Rosalie A. Poplaski, 77, of 562 Notch Road, died Friday at North Adams Regional Hospital. Born in North Adams on Dec. 10, 1929, daughter of Leo and Angelina Strafaci Giroux, she attended schools in Adams. In later years, she graduated from Charles H. McCann Technical High School, where she completed the licensed practical nursing program. Mrs. Poplaski first was employed by the former Pittsfield General Hospital, where she was an LPN for 15 years. Before that, she was employed by Berkshire Woolen Mills and the Wyandott Worsted Mill. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church, where she produced and directed their talent and variety shows during the 1970s. She enjoyed bingo, crocheting, puzzles and writing. Her husband, Edmond P. Poplaski, whom she married in October 1948, died April 10, 1994. Mrs. Poplaski leaves a daughter, Linda M. Tatro-Winter of Cheshire; two brothers, Richard Giroux and Gordon Giroux, both of Adams; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Rosalie Ann Poplaski, who died Friday, April 6, 2007, will be tomorrow at 10:30 a.m. from DERY-CHESHIRE FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, celebrated by the Rev. David R. Raymond, pastor. Burial will be later in the spring in Cheshire Cemetery. Calling hours will be tomorrow from 9:30 to 10:30 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mrs. Poplaski may be made to the Cheshire Fire Department in care of the funeral home, P.O. Box 445, Cheshire. Mrs. Poplaski also leaves her six grandchildren, Allan, Jennifer and Jillian Tatro and Cam, Chris and Candy Winter; and 10 great-grandchildren, Allan Tatro III, Kassidy, Sienna and Amber Tatro, Kalen and Jesse Cote, Kelsea Vigiard, Darian Vidal, Kylee Legg and Payton Winter. She was predeceased by a brother, Robert Giroux.
