Gloria A. Ruef

Gloria A. Ruef, 79, of 345 Marble St. in Lee and Shaw Pond in Becket, died Monday at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, with whom she resided. Gloria was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Oct. 8, 1927. She was the daughter of Edward J. and Julia Fritz Schneyer Fuchs, as well as the step-daughter of Maximilian Fuchs. She was a graduate of Girls Commercial High School in Brooklyn and attended Brown's Business School and Pace University in New York, where she was president of Belles Sorority. Gloria was employed by New York Telephone Co. in the commercial personnel supervisor's office as district clerk from 1945 to 1953. She was a member and former director of the Mountain Grove Association at Shaw Pond from 1998 until 2000. Gloria was a communicant of St. George's Episcopal Church in Lee, a member of the Episcopal Church Women and former directress of the altar guild from 1993 until 2000. Her husband Ernest J. Ruef, whom she married September 9, 1950, died in December 1989. She is survived by a son, Gary P. Ruef of Lee; a daughter, Barbara I. Walker of Joliet, Ill.; and four grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Gloria Ruef, who died Monday, April 9, 2007, will be held Friday morning at 9:15 from the KELLY FUNERAL HOME in Lee with a services a 10 a.m. at St. George's Church, the Rev. Donna J. Trebilcox, rector, officiating. Burial will be Saturday at Pine Lawn Cemetery in Farmingdale, N.Y. Visiting hours at the funeral home will be Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, friends wishing may make donations to St. George's Church, Lee Ambulance Squad or Lee Visiting Nurses Association in care of the funeral home, 3 Main St. Lee, MA 01238. Gloria also leaves four grandchildren, Christopher Walker, Laura B. Walker, Ryan L. and Andrew J. Ruef; her grandson's fiance Aimee Sayles; her son-in-law Donald and her daughter-in-law Amy.
