Jacqueline J. Schutt Zanin

Jacqueline J. Schutt Zanin, 79, of 6 Mountain St., Housatonic, died Monday at Fairview Hospital. Born in Housatonic on Aug. 27, 1927, daughter of Richard and Marion Schutt Gibbons, she attended school in Housatonic and was a 1945 graduate of the former Searles High School. She worked in the deli department at the former Adams Supermarket in Great Barrington for 12 years and was one of the last full-time employees. Mrs. Zanin was a communicant of Corpus Christi Church in Housatonic. She was a member of the Housatonic Parent-Teachers Organization, secretary of the Housatonic Biddy League, and organizer for their tournaments in the early 1960's. She was a member of the first scholarship committee of the Berkshire Hills Regional School District. She leaves her husband, John "Zip" R. Zanin, whom she married on June 1, 1946, in Corpus Christi Church. In addition to her husband, she leaves a son, Michael Zanin of Housatonic; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Thomas J. Zanin, who died Nov. 27, 2006. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Burial for Jacqueline J. Gibbons Zanin, who died on Monday, April 16, 2007, will be private and at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Expressions of sympathy in Jackie's memory may be made to the Massachusetts Audubon Society, in care of BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME, 33 South St., Great Barrington, MA 01230, who is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Zanin was also predeceased by a sister, Terrance "Terry" Ramsay, who died in 1993.
