Helen Frances Gomeau

Helen Frances Gomeau, 85, of 10B Franklin Court, died Tuesday at North Adams Regional Hospital. Born in North Adams on Sept. 28, 1921, daughter of George and Catherine Nestor LePage, she graduated from Drury High School in 1940 and from the former Henry W. Bishop III Memorial School of Nursing in Pittsfield with a degree in nursing. She also trained as an IV certified therapist and taught nurses throughout the county. A registered nurse, Mrs. Gomeau was employed by North Adams Regional Hospital. Previously, she was head nurse in the maternity department at the former Pittsfield General Hospital and at its successor, Berkshire Medical Center. She was a communicant of St. Francis' Church and a member of Le Cercle Francais Club. Her husband, George Joseph Gomeau Jr., whom she married Sept. 23, 1977, died Jan. 11, 2000. She leaves a daughter, Janice Chenail Sylvester of Needham, and a granddaughter. Her former husband, Frank D. Chenail, died Sept. 13, 1995. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Helen Frances LePage Gomeau, who died Tuesday, April 24, 2007, will be Friday at 8:15 a.m. at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, WEST CHAPEL, 521 West Main St., North Adams, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, North Adams. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery, North Adams. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested for North Adams Regional Hospital in care of the funeral home. Mrs. Gomeau leaves a son-in-law, Warren Sylvester, and a granddaughter, Yvette Sylvester.
