Ella Maria Dunsmore

Ella Maria Dunsmore, 91, of 28 Summit Ave., died Monday at home. Born in North Adams on July 24, 1915, daughter of William and Mabel Barlow Thatcher, she attended local schools and graduated from Drury High School in 1933. She also attended the former North Adams State College. Mrs. Dunsmore was employed by the former Sprague Electric Co. in North Adams for more than 25 years, retiring in 1980. She was a patron of the North Adams Public Library and had traveled all over the world. She enjoyed gardening. She had also played the oboe for the Berkshire Symphony Orchestra. She and her husband, John Stewart Dunsmore, were married in 1939. He died May 7, 1973. Mrs. Dunsmore leaves two sons, William S. Dunsmore of Dalton and John S. Dunsmore Jr. of Wake Forest, N.C.; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Private graveside services for Ella Dunsmore, who died Monday, April 23, 2007, will be held in Southview Cemetery in North Adams at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association in care of FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, CENTRAL CHAPELS, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, MA 01247, which is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Dunsmore also leaves three grandchildren, Curtis Dunsmore of Leland, N.C., Christine Wallace of Bethesda, Md., and Craig Dunsmore of Wilmington, N.C.
