Albert Joseph Stavaski

Albert Joseph Stavaski, 69, of 2 Fryc Lane, died Thursday at the home of his daughter, Kathleen M. Stavaski of 577 Canaan St., Canaan, N.H., after a long illness. He was a former member and chairman of the Zoning Board of Appeals. Born in Adams on Feb. 10, 1938, son of John J. and Ellen Weaver Stavaski, he graduated in 1956 with honors from the former Adams High School and from Western New England College in Springfield in 1963 with a certificate in mechanical engineering. He also earned a bachelor's in management from the former North Adams State College, now Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts, in 1976. Mr. Stavaski was employed by GE from 1956 to 1993, retiring as a senior quality specialist/engineer. He took many courses on manufacturing, management and toolmaking while at the company. He also was a licensed real estate agent. He was a communicant of St. Stanislaus' Church and a member of the National Rifle Association and the GE Quarter Century and Pensioners' clubs. An accomplished photographer, he won many prizes in competitions. He also enjoyed woodworking, hunting and fishing. He and his wife, the former Viriginia Duda, were married Oct. 15, 1960. Besides his wife and daughter, he leaves a son, Paul B. Stavaski of Cheshire; a brother, John Stavaski of Manchester-by-the-Sea; a sister, Anna Bedard of Pittsfield; and two grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral and burial for Mr. Albert J. Stavaski, who died Thursday, April 26, 2007, will be private. There will be no calling hours. Mr. Stavaski also leaves a son-in-law, Mark Dove; a daughter-in-law, Karyn Stavaski; two grandchildren, Atlas Dove and Aura Dove; and nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Mary Comstock, and by a brother, Francis "Bud" Stavaski.
