Anna Marie Wrenn

Anna Marie Wrenn, 89, of East Road, died at home on Tuesday. Born on Nov. 26, 1917, in Waterbury, Conn., daughter of George and Mary Hyland O'Neill, she was educated in schools there. After moving from Waterbury to Watertown, Conn., in 1955, Mrs. Wrenn was employed by her husband's firm, NASCO Inc., where she set up the bookkeeping system. She was a communicant of Corpus Christi Church in Housatonic and enjoyed cribbage and sharing horse races with her family. She was a pianist and reader who enjoyed creating her own greeting cards on the computer and doing genealogical research on the Internet. Mrs. Wrenn volunteered for many organizations, including Elder Services of Berkshire County and Fairview Hospital. Besides knitting Irish sweaters, she enjoyed crocheting blankets for children living in shelters. She and her husband, Ray Wrenn, were married Nov. 22, 1941, in Waterbury. He died in 1983. She leaves two sons, Raymond D. Wrenn of Winterport, Maine, and George F. Wrenn of Cheshire; two daughters, Kathy Barbieri of Richford, N.Y., and Nancy Hale of Alford, with whom she resided for the past 17 years; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Anna Marie Wrenn passed away peacefully at her home on May 1, 2007. She leaves two sons, Raymond D. Wrenn and his wife Kathy, and George F. Wrenn and his wife Peggy; two daughters, Kathy Barbieri and her husband Pete of Richford, N.Y., and Nancy Hale of Alford; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren, who called her "GGA" (Great Grammy Ann). A sister, Kay Corcoran, is deceased. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, May 12, 2007 at 10:30 a.m., at Corpus Christi Church, Housatonic, by the Rev. William Murphy. Burial will follow Monday, May 14, at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Waterbury, Conn. A reception will follow the funeral Mass in Housatonic at the Brick House Pub restaurant from noon to 3 p.m. Donations may be made in Anna Marie Wrenn's memory to either Elder Services of Berkshire County or to Fairview Hospital in care of the Birches-Roy Funeral Home, 33 South St., Great Barrington, MA 01230. Mrs. Wrenn also enjoyed staying in touch with family and friends by e-mail, and believed that every child deserved a homemade blanket.
