Yetta "Betty" Banach

Yetta "Betty" Banach, 89, of 278 Great Barrington Road died yesterday at Fairview Hospital. Born in Philadelphia on July 11, 1917, daughter of Nathan and Rachael Singer Green, she attended schools there. Mrs. Banach was employed by Timberlyn Heights Nursing and Alzheimer Center from 1959 to 1990. Before that, she worked at the former Great Barrington Manufacturing Co. She enjoyed playing bingo and rummy. Her husband, William J. Banach Sr., whom she married Aug. 30, 1950, died April 29, 1983. She leaves a son, William J. Banach Jr. of Daytona Beach, Fla., and a daughter, Mary F. Rivers of West Stockbridge, with whom she made her home. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Yetta "Betty" Banach, who died Thursday, May 10, 2007, will be celebrated Monday, May 14, at 10 a.m. at All Saints' Church in Housatonic by the Rev. William Murphy, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Bridget's Cemetery. Family will receive friends at BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME tomorrow, May 12, from 2 to 4 p.m. Expressions of sympathy in Betty's memory may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires, in care of BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME, 33 South St., Great Barrington, MA 01230. Mrs. Banach also leaves her longtime caregiver, Connie DelMasto of Housatonic, and her beloved cocker spaniel, Darby.
