Lucia Grace Roberts

Lucia Grace Roberts, 82, of Kimball Farms, died May 7 at Berkshire Medical Center. Born in San Diego on March 21, 1925, daughter of Clinton and Dorothy Clarke Abbott, she attended the Francis Parker School, the Bishop's School and Scripps College in Claremont, Calif., where she majored in music. She and her husband, the Rev. D. Evor Roberts, met during World War II while Mr. Roberts served as a chaplain in the Navy. They were married June 15, 1946, in San Diego. They later made their homes in Scotland, New York, Pennsylvania and Michigan. She and her husband retired to Lenox in 1999. The Rev. Roberts died in 2002. Mrs. Roberts was a member of the First Congregational Church of Stockbridge, where she sang in the choir. She leaves a sister, Lois Whitney of Berkeley, Calif.; two daughters, Lois Kitz of Keene, N.H., and Kitty Howard of Sudbury; three sons, David Roberts of Evanstone, Ill., Clinton Roberts of Naperville, Ill., and John Roberts of Shelburne, Vt.; and 10 grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A memorial service for Lucia Roberts, who died Monday, May 7, 2007, will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the First Congregational Church of Stockbridge, conducted by the Rev. Stephen Bridges. A reception will follow. Inurnment will take place in the memorial garden of the First Presbyterian Church of Richland, Mich. In lieu of flowers, donations in Lucia Roberts' memory may be made to the Francis Park School, San Diego, Calif., in care of ROCHE FUNERAL HOME, 120 Main St., Lenox, MA 01240. Mrs. Roberts faithfully supported her husband in serving four Presbyterian congregations over four decades. She will be remembered for her laughter and loyalty, her love of all living things, her unconquerable courage and unfailing grace.
