Mary Dunaj

Mary Dunaj, 92, a former longtime resident of Adams, died Monday at Northampton Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Born in Windber, Pa., on Aug. 30, 1914, daughter of Anthony and Katherine Leja Balut, she came to Adams as a child with her family and attended schools there. She lived in Adams until moving to Belchertown in 2005, and then to Northampton last year. Mrs. Dunaj was employed by the former Waverly Fabrics, retiring in 1986. Before that, she worked at the former Wall Streeter Shoe Co. in North Adams for many years until the mill closed. She was a communicant of St. Stanislaus' Church and was a member of its Rosary Sodality. Her husband, Joseph C. Dunaj, whom she married May 29, 1954, died Jan. 17, 1973. She leaves two nephews, John Sadlo of Windsor and Russell Balut of Belchertown; a grand-niece, Jennie DiSelice of Woburn; a grand-nephew, Timothy Balut of Belchertown; and several cousins. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Mary Dunaj, who died Monday, May 28, 2007, was predeceased by a sister, Helen Sadlo, on Feb. 12, 2004, and by two brothers, August Balut on Oct. 10, 1986, and William Balut on Aug. 12, 1989. The funeral will be conducted tomorrow at 9 a.m. from PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 in St. Stanislaus' Church, Adams. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus' Cemetery, Adams. There are no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to St. Stanislaus' Church through the funeral home.
