Doris C. Redeker

Doris C. Redeker, 104, died Saturday at Laurel Lake Assisted Living Center. She was a longtime resident of Rochester, N.Y., before moving to Lee in 2000. Born in Breslau, Germany, on Nov. 30, 1902, daughter of Carson and Agusta Shultz Cady, she moved to Rochester as a child and was a graduate of East Rochester High School. Mrs. Redeker was employed as a stock transfer clerk by the former Lincoln Rochester Bank, now Chase Manhattan Bank, from the early 1950s until 1972. At one time, she worked for a baby-sitting company and for Hickock Manufacturing Co. She was a communicant and active member of St. Ambrose Church in Rochester. She was a member of the Zonta organization for many years. She was an active member of the Rotary Club in Rochester. She also enjoyed sewing and needlepoint. Her first husband, J. Stewart Browne, is deceased. Her husband, Frank Redeker, is deceased. She leaves two daughters, Priscilla Cote of Sheffield and Donna Landry of Pittsford, N.Y.; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Doris C. Redeker, who died Saturday, June 2, 2007, will be celebrated Thursday morning at 11 at Our Lady of the Valley Church in Sheffield by the Rev. Daniel Papineau. Burial will follow at Our Lady of the Valley Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 4 until 6 p.m. at FINNERTY AND STEVENS FUNERAL HOME in Great Barrington. Memorial contributions may be made to either Laurel Lake Assisted Living Facility or HospiceCare in the Berkshires through the funeral home, 426 Main St., Great Barrington, MA 01230. Mrs. Redeker also leaves seven grandchildren, Stephan and Andrew Cote, Danielle Cote-Barnett, Michelle Sweet, Pierre Landry, Renee Kelly and Marielle Landry; and six great-grandchildren, Anthony, Nicholas, Stephanie, Brandon, Sean and Peter. A sister, Bertha "Bert" Judd, and a great-grandson, Justin Sugasawara, are deceased.
