Ann R. Smith

Ann R. Smith, 63, of Myrtle Street Apartments, died yesterday at North Adams Regional Hospital after a long illness. Born in Pittsfield on Jan. 23, 1944, daughter of Paul B. and Marion Pezinelli Litano, she was a 1961 graduate of Pittsfield High School and attended La Baron Hairdressing Academy. Mrs. Smith was a teacher's aide at C.T. Plunkett School until illness forced her retirement. Before that, she was employed by the former Zayre's department store and by Brooks Pharmacy, both in Pittsfield. She was a communicant of St. Thomas' Church and a member of AARP and of the Eagles. She enjoyed playing bingo. She and her former husband, Arthur W. Smith of Pittsfield, were married at St. Mark's Church on Jan. 23, 1965. Besides her former husband, she leaves two daughters, Tina M. Conner of Pittsfield and Kimberly A. Meczywor of Adams; two sisters, Paula Kettles and Marie Martini, both of Pittsfield; and three grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A funeral with scriptural readings in celebration of the life of Ann R. Litano Smith, who died Wednesday, June 6, 2007, will be offered Saturday at 12:30 p.m. at McBRIDE FUNERAL HOME on Liberty Street in Adams, which is in charge of arrangements. The family will welcome relatives and friends from 11 a.m. until the time of the service, which will be offered by the Rev. Deacon Robert Moulton. Burial in St. Joseph's Cemetery will follow at a later date. She is also survived by two sons-in-law, Scott Conner of Pittsfield and Theodore Meczywor of Adams; and three grandchildren, Scott W.and Jennifer L. Conner, and Meghan Meczywor.
