Emanuel H. Cohen

Emanuel H. Cohen, 87, of 5465 Cedar Village Drive, Mason, Ohio, formerly of 75 Biltmore Ave., died yesterday at Hospice of Cincinnati. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Sept. 8, 1919, son of Harry and Sadie Elkin Cohen, he attended schools in Turners Falls and graduated from Turners Falls High School in 1938. Mr. Cohen was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, serving from March 10, 1941, to Nov. 17, 1945, when he was honorably discharged as a corporal. Following the service, he studied at the former Bliss Business College. He was employed by Excelsior Printing Co., retiring in 1984. Before that, he worked for two years at the former Warren Wire Co. in Pownal, Vt., and from 1946 to 1956, he was employed by the former Windsor Print Works. Mr. Cohen was a member of Congregation Beth Israel and a member of the Frank R. Stiles Post 125 American Legion, a former member of the Sherman-Gitelson-Pindick Post Jewish American Legion, a charter member of the Northern Berkshire Industrial Development Corp., and a member of the Crane Quarter Century Club. He was a longtime volunteer at the Northern Berkshire Visitors' Booth. His wife, the former Anne Pindick, died April 11, 2005. They were married July 19, 1945. Mr. Cohen leaves two daughters, Marilyn "Mimi" Amazon of Cincinnati and Sheila Shapiro of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; a brother, Clifford Cohen of Port Chester, N.Y.; a sister, Goldie Goldstein of Boca Raton, Fla.; two grandchildren; and a great-grandson. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Emanuel Cohen, who died Thursday, June 14, 2007, will be held Sunday at 11 a.m. at Congregation Beth Israel. Burial will follow in Beth Israel Cemetery in Clarksburg. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lance Armstrong Foundation, National Mail Processing Center, P.O. Box 6003 Albert Lea, MN 56007-6603 or to the charity of the donor's choice, care of FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, which is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Cohen also leaves a son-in-law, Jay Shapiro; two grandchildren, Marc Amazon and his wife, Jennifer, and Tiffany Amazon; a great-grandson, Evan Amazon. A son-in-law, Richard Amazon, is deceased.
