Alcide Ernest Guisti

Alcide Ernest Guisti, 92, of 103 Main St., died yesterday at Williamstown Commons. Born in North Adams on Jan. 1, 1915, son of Henry and Rose Mancini Guisti, he attended local schools and was a 1935 graduate of Drury High School, where he was a member of the varsity baseball and basketball teams. Mr. Guisti was employed by the former Sprague Electric Co. for 41 years, retiring in 1980. Before that, he was employed by the former Gale Shoe Co., by the WPA as a time keeper and by Mullen Mayflowers as a bookkeeper. He was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church, and was a member of the Sprague Quarter Century Club and the Northern Berkshire Retired Men's Club. He enjoyed playing pool. His wife, the former Rita Bombardier, died Jan. 24, 1984. Mr. Guisti leaves two daughters, Patricia Randall of North Adams and Maureen Watkins of Pittsfield; a sister, Nancy Andreatta of North Adams; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and his longtime companion, Jean Rivard. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Alcide E. Guisti will be conducted tomorrow at 8:15 a.m. at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, Central Chapels. It will be followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. at St. Anthony's Church in North Adams. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are today from 5 to 7 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to Williamstown Commons, Unit 3 through the funeral home, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, MA 01247. Two brothers, Oreste and Dante Guisti, are deceased. The family of Mr. Guisti would like to extend a special "thank you" to the staff at Williamstown Commons.
