Elizabeth Marie Horrigan

Elizabeth Marie Horrigan, 87, of Largo, Fla., formerly of North Adams and Williamstown, died June 22 at Hospice House Woodside in Pinellas Park, Fla. She moved to Largo in 1983. Born in Adams on Sept. 11, 1919, daughter of Aldeas and Flora Stone Desnoyers, she attended local schools. She contributed to the World War II victory effort while her husband was serving in the Marine Corps by working at Gaevert's in Williamstown. She later worked as an inspector at the Wall Streeter Shoe Co. She was a communicant of Notre Dame Church and a storyteller and family historian. She excelled at word games and crossword puzzles and was a fan of Notre Dame football and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. She celebrated her 60th wedding anniversary with her family in Las Vegas and spent summers at the family camp, "The Crow's Nest," on Lake St. Catherine in Vermont. She and her husband, Bernard T. Horrigan were married Sept. 2, 1939, at Notre Dame Church. He died in 2003. She leaves a son, Nick Horrigan of Burnt Hills, N.Y., and three grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Memorial Liturgy of Christian Burial for Elizabeth "Bette" Horrigan, who died Friday, June 22, 2007, will held Aug. 3, 2007, at 11 a.m. at St. Francis' Church in North Adams, followed by burial in Southview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in her name to Hospice of the Florida Suncoast, 5771 Roosevelt Blvd., Clearwater, FL 33760. Flynn & Dagnoli Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapel, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, MA 01247, is in charge of arrangements. Bette died in peace with God, surrounded by family. Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Lynn Baldessarini Horrigan, and three grandchildren, Shannon and Shawn Ackerman of Denver, and Keith Patrick Horrigan of Albany, N.Y. She also leaves with love her many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Victor and Emil Desnoyers.
