Irma Tabor

Irma Tabor, 90, of 7 Kittler Ave. died Monday at Sweet Brook Care Centers in Williamstown. Born in Adams on April 24, 1917, daughter of Herman and Selma Frommer Klammer, she graduated from the former Adams High School in 1935 and received a master's in education from the former North Adams State College. Mrs. Tabor taught in Savoy for five years before joining the Adams Public School System, where she taught for 47 years. She was principal of both the former Commercial Street and Renfrew Street schools, then taught at C.T. Plunkett School until retiring in 1981. She was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church and for more than 50 years a member and former worthy matron of Franklin Chapter 92 Order of Eastern Star. She was also a longtime member of the Adams Turners. Her husband, Joseph F. Tabor, whom she married June 28, 1944, died June 11, 1999. She leaves a niece, Carolyn Morgan of Vernon, N.Y. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Irma Tabor, who died Monday, June 25, 2007, will be conducted today, June 27, at 1 p.m. at TROTTIER-PRINGLE FUNERAL HOME, 6 Summer St., Adams, by the Rev. R. Ellen White, priest in charge of St. Mark's Episcopal Church. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery in Adams at a date to be announced. There will be no calling hours. Donations in Irma's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or Chapter 92 of the Eastern Star through the funeral home. She also leaves three great-nephews, James Morgan of Vernon, N.Y., and Scott and Jason Muggle, both of Canastota, N.Y.; and a cousin, Martha J. Stohlmann of Adams. She was predeceased by two sisters, Inez Muggle and Louise Klammer.
