Murray C. Norcross

Murray C. Norcross, 71, of 1 Evans St., died yesterday at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield. Born in North Adams on May 18, 1936, son of Ralph and Naomi Pheulpin Norcross, he attended local schools and graduated from Drury High School in 1954. He was a Navy veteran, serving aboard the USS Missouri and USS O'Brien. Mr. Norcross was employed by General Electric Co. for more than 30 years, working in both in the ordnance and plastics department as a machinist. Before that, he worked for the former Sprague Electric Co. for several years. Mr. Norcross was also custodian for the St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Adams for several years. He was a communicant of Notre Dame-St. Thomas Parish, where he was also a custodian for several years. He was a longtime member and past master of the Berkshire Lodge of Masons, a past board member of the Prudential Committee, and a member of the Elks, Mountain Club and Civic Club. He enjoyed deep-sea fishing and loved his pets. He and his wife, the former Judith Voigt, were married July 30, 1960. Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, Robert Norcross of Adams and Lawrence Norcross of Manchester, N.H.; a daughter, Mary Ellen Norcross of Adams; and two grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Murray C. Norcross, who died Wednesday, June 27, 2007, will be conducted at 9 a.m. Saturday at TROTTIER PRINGLE FUNERAL HOME, 6 Summer St., Adams. It will be followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 in Notre Dame Church in Adams. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be tomorrow from 4 to 7 p.m. Donations in his memory can be made to the Berkshire Lodge of Masons through the funeral home. He also leaves two grandchildren, Emily Norcross and Dillan Norcross. He was predeceased by a sister, Janet Olson.
