F. Anthony "Tony" Couture

F. Anthony "Tony" Couture, 57, of 35 Crandall St. died Saturday at North Adams Regional Hospital. Born in Adams on Aug. 14, 1949, son of the late Francis E. and Ann Chwalek Couture, he attended local schools and graduated from the former Adams High School in 1967. He was a Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War. Mr. Couture was employed by the former Pfizer Co. starting in 1976, and then worked for its successor, Specialty Minerals Inc. During his career he held numerous supervisory positions. He had also worked as a bricklayer with Local 29 Laborers Union from 1972 to 1975. He was a communicant of the parishes of Notre Dame-St. Thomas, and was a member of the Adams Post 160 American Legion and the Mountain Club. He was a lifelong Boston Red Sox fan and a football enthusiast. He and his wife, the former Joan F. Czaja, were married Aug. 11, 1972. Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Jarrid A. Couture of Somerville; a daughter, Kristen A. Couture of Orlando, Fla.; a brother, John "Jack" Couture of Orlando, Fla.; and two sisters, Barbara F. Couture and Regina A. Hill, both of Adams. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for F. Anthony "Tony" Couture, who died Saturday, July 21, 2007, will be held Thursday at 9 a.m. at PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Adams. Burial will be private at a later date at the convenience of the family. Calling hours are Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Tony Couture Memorial Scholarship Fund through the funeral home. Additional survivors include his daughter's fiancé, Eric Lucas of Orlando, Fla.; brother-in-law, Richard Hill of Adams; and several nieces and nephews.
