Jean Ann Scarpitto Atwood

Jean Ann Scarpitto Atwood, 75, of 48 Pond Road, Rowe, died Tuesday at the Williamstown Commons. Born in North Adams, on March 9, 1932, daughter of the late James Scarpitto and Wanda Sudacki Scarpitto, she attended local schools and graduated from Drury High. She also graduated from the Naples Vocational Technical School in Naples, Fla. with a degree in Cosmetology. Mrs. Atwood worked as a hairdresser in Naples, Fla. until her retirement in 1999. She was also a professional cake decorator. She resided in North Adams until 1983, when she moved to Naples. She returned to Rowe following her retirement. She was active in town politics in Rowe and served on the Town Finance Committee. She enjoyed walking and gardening. Her husband Donald Jewett Atwood, whom she married April 26, 1952, died July 20. She leaves one daughter, Dona A. Wilson of Avon, Conn.; and one son, Ronald A. Atwood of North Adams; and two grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Jean Ann Scarpitto, who died Tuesday, July 24, 2007, will be held Saturday at 10:15 a.m. from FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS WEST CHAPELS, 521 West Main St., North Adams, followed by a Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Church. Burial will follow in Southview cemetery. Calling hours are Friday 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home. She also leaves a son-in-law, Dennis G. Wilson; daughter-in-law, Kathy Atwood; and two grandchildren, Thomas C. Atwood and Timothy J. Atwood of North Adams; several cousins, nieces and nephews. A brother and sister are deceased, Anthony Scarpitto and Louise Cardimino.
