Charles R. "Chuck" Burgess

Charles R. "Chuck" Burgess, 50, of 11 Richmond Ave., died Saturday at Cooley-Dickinson Hospital in Northampton after suffering an apparent heart attack while playing the drums in his band "Hot Totti" at Liston's in Worthington. Born in Greenfield on April 14, 1957, son of the late Robert D. and Marjorie Surnier Burgess, he attended schools in Dalton and was a 1975 graduate of Wahconah Regional High School. After high school he joined the Air Force, where he served from 1976 until being honorably discharged in 1980 as a sergeant. Mr. Burgess was employed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Division of Conservation and Recreation as a grounds maintenance worker. Prior to that, he had been employed for Time Warner Cable as a prevention maintenance service technician for 24 years. He was a drummer for many bands, including "Off Hour Rockers," "No Big Heads," "Wildlife" and "Burnt Bacon and the Home Fries." He also enjoyed bicycling and reading. He leaves a daughter, Kacey L. Burgess of Pittsfield; a son, Kevin A. Burgess of Pittsfield; a sister, Cheryl Walden of Dalton; two brothers, Paul S. Burgess of Lanesborough and Scott Burgess of Lee; and his former wife, Kathy Begin Burgess of Pittsfield. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Charles R. "Chuck" Burgess, who died Saturday, Aug. 4, 2007, will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME, 890 East Main St., Dalton, MA. Burial will follow in Maple Street Cemetery in Hinsdale. Calling hours at the funeral home will be today from 4 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials in his memory be made to the Berkshire Music School in care of the funeral home. A brother, Jeffery A. Burgess, died June 27, 1994.

I was searching for old Air Force buddies online when I came across this terrible news. Several times over the years Chuck and I managed to talk on the phone but lost touch in the 90s. He was such a funny guy and a really good friend. We were just kids almost in the AF together. We were in The 1956 Com Group out of Dayton Ohios Wright Patterson AFB. Went to many places together including Fortuna ND and Omaha Nebraska . I know this is years late but my Prayers to his family
