Rosemary Blackburn

Rosemary Blackburn, 84, of 6 Railroad St. died Monday at home. Born in Pittsfield on Jan. 16, 1923, daughter of William M. and Anna Marshall Egan, she attended schools in Burlington, Vt., and in Collingswood, N.J., and graduated from Collingswood High School. She was also a graduate of Pierce Business College in Philadelphia. She returned to the Berkshires in 1965 and moved to Lee in 2003. Mrs. Blackburn worked as an intake and referral specialist for the state of Vermont, retiring in 1982. Before that, she was a junior clerk for Sheriff Carmen C. Massimiano Jr. and a secretary for Family and Children's Services, both in Pittsfield. She volunteered at Berkshire Medical Center for 27 years. Her husband, William A. Blackburn, whom she married April 19, 1947, died May 18, 1977. She leaves two daughters, Barbara Warren of Becket and Carol Griffith of Bucyrus, Ohio; two sisters, Elizabeth A. Kaus of Summit, N.J., and Barbara Mudge of Bethel Park, Pa.; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Rosemary E. Blackburn, who died Monday, Aug. 13, 2007, will be conducted Wednesday at 1 p.m. at DWYER FUNERAL HOME by the Rev. John Goyette of Assembly of God Church in Bennington, Vt. Burial will follow in Pittsfield Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Wednesday from 11 a.m. until the 1 p.m. service. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Animal Dreams, in care of the funeral home, 776 North St., Pittsfield, MA 01201. Mrs. Blackburn was a loving grandmother to Lorraine, Leah, Wendy, Karen and Neil.
