James F. Dawson Sr.

James F. Dawson Sr., 57, of 174 East Main St., Ashley Falls, died yesterday at home after a seven-year battle with cancer. Born in Island Pond, Vt., on Nov. 29, 1949, son of Roland W. and Dorothy Sequin Dawson, he attended Oliver Wolcott Technical High School in Torrington, Conn. Mr. Dawson was employed as a truck driver for various companies over the past 30 years, most recently for USF Red Star in Albany, N.Y. He enjoyed playing golf, bowling and gardening and was a fan of the Boston Red Sox fan and of NASCAR. He and his wife, the former Lisa Rosier, were married Dec. 19, 1998. Besides his wife, he leaves a son, James F. Dawson Jr. of Southfield; a daughter, Michelle A. Dawson of Southfield; a stepson, Kevin S. Rosier of Canaan, Conn.; two brothers, Randall C. Dawson Sr. of Ashley Falls, and Roland "Tom" Dawson, of Central, S.C.; and a granddaughter. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A memorial service for James F. Dawson, who died Monday, Aug. 13, 2007, will be conducted Thursday from 2 to 7 p.m. at 380 Polikoff Road, Ashley Falls. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family, in keeping with Jim's wishes. There will be no calling hours. Expressions of sympathy in Jim's memory may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires, in care of BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME, 33 South St., Great Barrington, MA 01230, which is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Dawson enjoyed going to Lebanon Valley Speedway and was a fan of Dale Earnhart Jr., No. 8. He also leaves a step-daughter-in-law, Karrie Rosier; two sisters-in-law, Bridggitte Dawson, and Preneat Dawson; a granddaughter, Katelynn Dawson; his father-in-law, John Rosier Sr.; his mother-in-law, Kathleen Nott Rosier; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, William "Mike" Dawson.
