Cecile Marie Begin

Cecile Marie Begin, 84, of 245 Mohawk Forest Blvd. died Monday at North Adams Commons, where she had resided for a few months. Born in Rumford, Maine, on March 31, 1923, daughter of Rosario and Hilda Poulin Carrier, she graduated in 1941 from Stephens High School there. Mrs. Begin was employed by the North Adams Public School Department as a payroll clerk for 30 years, retiring in 1992. Before that, she worked for Mayflower and Wheaton Van Lines in New Bedford and Tiverton, R.I, and for Sears-Roebuck Co. in Rumford, Boston and New Bedford. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Mercy Church and enjoyed cooking, reading and doing crossword puzzles. She also was a fan of the Boston Red Sox. She leaves two daughters, Elizabeth Bolt of Norwich, Conn., and Anne Quimby of North Adams; a sister, Yvonne Nadeau of Rumford; a brother, George Carrier of Rumford; and four grandchildren. A son, Joseph Begin, died at birth. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Cecile Marie Begin, who died Monday, Aug. 20, 2007, will be celebrated Friday at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Mercy Church in North Adams. Burial will be private. There will be no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to The Smile Train, in care of FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, Central Chapel, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, MA 01247. She also leaves a son-in-law, Steven Quimby; four grandchildren, Andrew Bolt of New York City, Nicholas Bolt of Pawcatuck, Conn., and Adam and Stephanie Quimby, both of North Adams; and nieces and nephews. Four brothers and sisters are deceased.
