Edward John Starsiak

Edward John Starsiak, 86, of 17 Pleasant St. died Saturday at Berkshire Medical Center. Born in Adams on July 11, 1921, son of John and Katherine Midura Starsiak, he attended schools there. A Marine Corps veteran of World War II, he served in Iceland and the Pacific from 1940 to 1945 and attained the rank of corporal. Mr. Starsiak worked at the former Arnold Print Works for many years, retiring in 1982. He was a communicant of the Parish of Notre Dame-St. Thomas-St. Stanislaus and a member of the Disabled American Veterans. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing golf. His wife, the former Sadie Restino, whom he married Sept. 5, 1952, died Aug. 2, 1998. He leaves three daughters, Patricia Ward of Worcester, Deborah Stack of Tomball, Texas, and Mary Ann Cardinal of Pownal, Vt., and four grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Edward John Starsiak, who died Saturday, Aug. 25, 2007, will be celebrated Saturday, Sept. 1, at 10 a.m. at Notre Dame des Sept Douleurs Church in Adams by the Rev. Daniel J. Boyle, pastor of the Catholic Parishes of Adams. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery, Adams. There will be no calling hours. Mr. Starsiak leaves four grandchildren, Sara and Terry Ward of Worcester, and Leslie and Michael Stack of Tomball, Texas; two sons-in-law, Kevin Stack of Tomball and William Cardinal of Pownal; a sister-in-law, Eileen Starsiak of New Jersey; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Mary Germanowski and Stella Decker, and by six brothers, Stanley, Carl, Joseph, Andrew, Chester and Mitchell Starsiak.
