Philip Littell

Philip Littell, 70, of 29 Chestnut St., Carriage House, The Elms, Westerly, R.I., died at home Tuesday after a long illness. Born in New York City on Nov. 30, 1936, son of Robert and Anita Damrosch Littell, he attended schools in New York City, Paris, Goddard College, Plainfield, Vt., and the Art Students League in Manhattan. He was a longtime resident of the Berkshires, and had spent summers at his parents' home in Tyringham. He moved to Stonington Borough, Conn., in 1995. Mr. Littel was a freelance artist who after leaving New York City, lived at Rolling Hills in Lenox from 1985-95, where he pursued a career as a painter. He leaves a sister, Alisa Storrow of Stone Ridge, Mystic, Conn.; and a brother, Walter Damrosch Littell of Concord. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Philip Littell, most beloved member of the Littell and Damrosch families, who died on Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2007, will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16, at Calvary Epsicopal Church, Stonington, Conn.
