Virginia Adams Fishell

Virginia Adams Fishell, 84, of 156 King Arthur Drive Sherwood Forest, formerly of Darien, Conn., died Tuesday at home. Born in Darien on May 12, 1923, daughter of Frederick and Marjorie Cornish Taylor, she was a 1941 graduate of Darien High School and attended secretarial school in Connecticut. In the 1940s, Mrs. Fishell was employed by New Haven State Normal School, now Southern Connecticut State University. From the 1970s to the 1980s, she was an administrative assistant at First Presbyterian Church in Stanford. She was a longtime member of Noroton (Conn.) Presbyterian Church, where she took an active role in the choir and general assembly. Mrs. Fishell was a founder of the Troupers Light Opera Inc., a Gilbert & Sullivan theater group in Fairfield County, and an active member from the 1960s to 1990s. She and her husband, Robert L. Fishell, were married April 20, 1946. Besides her husband, she leaves a son, Lyle F. Fishell of East Stamford, Conn.; two daughters, Nancy J. Fishell of East Haddam, Conn., and Becket, and Marjorie "Maggie" Fishell of Bern, Switzerland; and two grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A celebration of the life of Virginia "Ginny" Adams Fishell, who died Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2007, will be held this Saturday at 11 a.m. on the beach of Lancelot Lake in Sherwood Forest.
