Sally B. Deutsch

Sally B. Deutsch, 88, of 17 High St. died yesterday at Great Barrington Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She lived in Southington, Conn., from 1944 until moving to Housatonic in 2006. Born in Housatonic on May 27, 1919, daughter of Joseph and Mary Bubrzyski Gromelski, she attended local schools and was a 1937 graduate of the former Williams High School in Stockbridge. She also received a degree in accounting from the former Berkshire Business College in Pittsfield. Mrs. Deutsch was employed by Cigna, formerly CT General, retiring as supervisor of the accounting department supervisor in 1980 with more than 25 years of service. Before that, she worked at the former Monument Mills as a secretary. She was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Church, a member of Southington Senior Citizens' Club and a volunteer at Bradley Hospital, all in Southington. Her husband, Joseph P. Deutsch, whom she married July 7, 1962, at Immaculate Conception Church, died May 8, 2006. She leaves two sisters, Frances Sarmuk of Pittsfield and Helen Oggiani of Housatonic. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Sally B. Deutsch, who died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2007, will be celebrated tomorrow at 10 a.m. at All Saints' Church in Housatonic by the Rev. William Murphy, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Bridget's Cemetery. The family will receive friends at a calling hour preceding the funeral tomorrow from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME. Expressions of sympathy in Sally's memory may be made to the All Saints' Renovation Fund, in care of the funeral home, 33 South St., Great Barrington, MA 01230.
