Doris Traub

Doris Traub, 70, of Silver Street, died Wednesday at Fairview Hospital in Great Barrington. Born in Great Barrington, on Sept. 26, 1937, daughter of Howard and Geralyn Spring Rhoades, she attended schools in Connecticut and graduated from Housatonic Valley Regional High School with the class of 1955. She was a lifelong resident of the area, having lived in Sheffield or Canaan, Conn., her entire life. Primarily a homemaker, Mrs. Traub had been employed by Mount Everett Regional High School in the cafeteria. Before that, she worked at Wash & Dry in Canaan and at Sheffield Pottery. She attended the Unitarian Fellowship of North Canaan, the Greenwood Community Church in Ashley Falls, formerly the Grace Bible Church, and the Old Parish Church in Sheffield. At the time of her death, she was a member of the Sheffield Council on Aging. She enjoyed traveling and reading. Mrs. Traub leaves her husband of 30 years, Peter Traub, whom she married Dec. 11, 1976 in Canaan. Besides her husband, she leaves a son, Steven Jones of Hyde Park, N.Y.; two daughters, Laura E. Skorput of West Stockbridge, and Eileen Rainville of Gansevoort, N.Y.; a sister, Linda Fitzgerald of Raleigh, N.C.; and three grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Doris Traub, who died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2007, will be conducted tomorrow at 11 a.m. at FINNERTY AND STEVENS FUNERAL HOME in Great Barrington by the Rev. Arthur Kaufmann. Burial will follow in Ashley Falls Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sheffield Senior Center Building Fund, care of the funeral home, 426 Main St., Great Barrington, MA 01230. She also leaves a daughter-in-law, Jeanne Jones; a son-in-law, Peter Skorput; a brother-in-law, Timothy Fitzgerald; and grandchildren,Tricia Lynn Skorput, Shannon and Meghan Jones.
