Catherine Chilson

Catherine Chilson, 84, of 102 West Shaft Road, died Monday at North Adams Regional Hospital. Born in North Adams on Dec. 29, 1922, daughter of John and Edna Werner Quirk, she attended the former St. Joseph's High School. Mrs. Chilson was employed by New England Telephone Co. in North Adams and Williamstown. She also worked at the former Sprague Electric Co. and at the former A&P Supermarket. She was a communicant of St. Francis' Church and a member of Dr. George L. Curran Post 996 VFW Ladies' Auxiliary and of the Jolle Circle Club. Her husband, Harold Chilson, died Oct. 1, 1974. She leaves a daughter, Debra Chilson of Adams; two sons, Alan "Pete" Chilson of Lake Geneva, Wis., and William M. Chilson of North Adams; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two daughters, Gail Benoit and Sandra Chilson. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Catherine Chilson, who died Monday, Oct. 22, 2007, will take place Friday at 9 a.m. at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA Home for Funerals, WEST CHAPEL, 521 West Main St., North Adams. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Cemetery, Williamstown. Calling hours will be tomorrow from 3 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial donations are suggested for the Eileen Barrett Foundation through the funeral home. Mrs. Chilson also leaves her daughter Debra's fiancé, Kurt LeClair, and two daughters-in-law, Ellen (William) and Marta ("Pete") Chilson. She was predeceased by two brothers, William and John Quirk, and by her sister, Eleanor Gigliotti. She was a devoted homemaker and mother.
