Roberta Jean Salvatore

Roberta Jean Salvatore, 65, of 11 Stockbridge Road died Sunday at the home of her daughter, Jeannine M. Salvatore of 138 Bradley St., Lee, with whom she had resided for two years. Born in Hinsdale on Oct. 10, 1942, daughter of Robert and Evelyn Wesley Cornwell, she was a 1960 graduate of Pittsfield High School. Mrs. Salvatore was employed by General Electric Co. as an assembler in the naval ordnance department, retiring in 1997 after 20 years of service. She enjoyed the ocean, gardening and going to casinos. Her husband, Richard P. Salvatore Sr., whom she married Feb. 6, 1960, died July 4, 2003. Besides her daughter, she leaves three sons, Richard P. Salvatore Jr. of Dalton, Paul W. Salvatore of Lenox Dale and Michael A. Salvatore of Pittsfield; a brother, Bruce Cornwell of Dalton; four sisters, Rosemary Colvin of Richmond, Vera Carder of Pittsfield, and Janet Marley and Karleen Hubby, both of Dalton; 14 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Roberta Jean "Cookie" Salvatore, who died Sunday, Nov. 4, 2007, will be conducted Thursday at 11 a.m. at DERY FUNERAL HOME by the Rev. William D. Furey, pastor of Berkshire Union Chapel. Burial will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery in West Stockbridge. Calling hours will be tomorrow from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Berkshire Visting Nurse Association, HospiceCare in the Berkshires or the American Cancer Society, all in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield. Mrs. Salvatore also leaves her son-in-law, Ronald Lovato; three daughters-in-law, Jennifer, Susan and Jessica Salvatore; 14 grandchildren, Joseph, Elyssa, Samuel, Matthew, Owen and Jenna Salvatore, Christopher Vaughan, Isabella, Justin and Lindsey Lovato, and Shaun, Christopher, Caitlyn and Aimee Bessette; two great-grandchildren, Tessa Morin and Sophia Bessette. Special thanks to her caregivers, Temora Allen, Kathy Holian, Leigh Darrow, Nancy Simmons, Linda Barnes and Billie Jo Rock, and to her nieces, Susan Newton and Laura Colvin. She was predeceased by two sisters, Shirley Kaufman and Evelyn Boyer. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.
